Meet Employee Spotlight Ron Modica

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
I originally attended college to become an engineer. I’ve always loved math and problem solving which led me to major in engineering. Ultimately I graduated with a degree in Accounting, but I still approach my job with an engineer’s mindset to attack a problem and find the right solution for our customers.

What gets you out of bed every morning?
Coffee at first, but then it’s the opportunity to be a positive impact on someone’s life.

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
After it became evident I’d never be a professional athlete, I put my sites on architecture. As a child, building large and sometimes complex houses from my Lincoln Logs and Legos.

If you won the lottery and had a million dollars, what would you do with it?
Save some, splurge some, invest some, and keep working.

What was your favorite vacation?
I’ve had many great vacations but the answer is and always will be Disney World. Whether you’re 4 years old or 40 years old, it really is the happiest place on earth.

Before working at your current job, what was the most interesting job you had?
My very first job was helping with my parents’ real estate brokerage. My siblings and I answered phones, stuffed envelopes for direct mailings, and occasionally going on property showings. The pay was subpar but the experience gained laid the foundation for my success in many of my future jobs.

What advice would you give to someone looking for a job right now?
Don’t take shortcuts. This isn’t an easy job to do, but it’s a very rewarding one once you’ve figured things out. Learn to do things the right way and you’ll develop a lifelong skill.

What do you find most rewarding about your job?
The opportunity to help someone find a new position that advances their career puts them in a better financial situation or improves the quality of life for their family.

What led you to a career in staffing?
I needed a job. I didn’t plan on a career in staffing, but I grew to love it.

What is your proudest moment at your job?
We had a new customer and our first search assignment was going well. On the night before several candidates were scheduled for final interviews, the top 3 candidates all removed themselves from consideration for various reasons. After taking 5 minutes to vent, I got back to work and found a new batch of candidates for our customer. They ultimately hired from that new group and this search assignment turned into a highly rewarding 2+ year relationship with the customer.
